Scratch for kids
Scratch is an intuitive and fun programming language developed by the University of Massachusetts specifically for children. With Scratch programming becomes accessible and fun to learn. This is a unique environment for teaching children programming, translated into 50 languages, including Russian.
Programming games in Scratch becomes quite simple for children due to the fact that it uses not a text but a visual language. It doesn't require special knowledge and training. Scratch has no complex codes and you don't need to write code by yourself. The program is compiled with the help of multi-colored visual bricks, which you just need to drag and join, like cubes in the Lego constructor. You can make changes to the program at any time - the result is immediately visible.
After completing the Scratch course your child will:
- Become familiar with the basics of programming using the Scratch visual programming language;
- Learn to create various objects, move them around the screen, modify and play with them, establish forms of interaction between them;
- Create his own animated and interactive stories, presentations, models, games and other works;
- Improve mathematics knowledge;
- Develop algorithmic thinking;
- Learn to work in a team.

How to install Scratch on a home computer:
- Go to the download section on the official website of the project https://scratch.mit.edu/download
- First download Adobe AIR for your operating system* and install it
- Download Scratch for your operating system* and install it.
- Launch the Scratch application.
- To open files from classes, download them to your computer, and then in the upper left corner of the application sel ect “File”> “Open”.
* Windows (7/8/10) - for most computers, Mac OS X - for computers fr om Apple. If you are a Linux user, you yourself know everything.
** The procedure for installing Scratch on computers running Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux is different:
- In Windows, you need to install the application and run it
- On Mac OS X you just have to drag and drop the application icon from the image into the applications folder and run it
- On Linux you can download the installation file or use a "via PPA"
At the end of the course, each student receives a personal certificate from CODDY.
